How Heart Attacks Damage Mitochondria

Magnesium has a profound effect on the heart
muscle and particularly on heart mitochondria.

Whenever an infarct or heart attack occurs there are
disrupted structures and functions in mitochondria of
the heart muscle.

This causes calcium crystals to be formed inside the
mitochondria during lack of oxygen or ischemia of
the cardiac tissue.

Oxidative Phosphorylation is disrupted in the Ischemic
tissue.
