           The Complex Structure of Mitochondria: The Oxygen Factor

 As stated before, there are thousands of mitochondria
 in muscle, brain, heart, liver, kidney and all vital organs
 providing energy for every function of the body.

 That energy almost exclusively depends on ATP made in
 mitochondria.

 The origin of Mitochondria in all oxygen breathing animals
 is postulated to have arrived early in biological history as
 the result of a symbiotic relationship between a bacteria
 and host cells. This permitted the development of oxygen
 breathing creatures on earth.
